Olympic Day 2026 in Keren: Bringing Values to Life Through Sport
A seminar for 50 sports officials and a community celebration through Keren brought Olympic education, participation and culture together.

Olympic values moved from discussion into shared community experience in Keren, as the Eritrean National Olympic Committee (EriNOC) organised a one-day seminar for sports officials and a public celebration as part of Olympic Day 2026.
Learning together in Anseba
Held on 24 October in Keren, the capital of the Anseba Region, the seminar brought together 50 participants, including sports officials, administrators, representatives of regional sports federations, coaches and referees.
The programme covered the Olympic Movement, its values and principles, alongside other Olympic-related topics. It was delivered by Eng. Ghirmay Haile, Vice President of EriNOC, and Dr. Amine Teclay, the Committee’s Secretary General.
Presentations were complemented by group discussions, giving participants opportunities to exchange ideas and reflect together on the subjects covered.
Olympic spirit on the streets of Keren
Following the seminar, EriNOC held an Olympic Day 2026 celebration through the streets of Keren. Mass participation sports activities, cultural performances and other programmes formed part of the commemoration.
The celebration brought together the Administrator of Keren City, the Director General of Administration and Finance of the Eritrean Commission of Sport and Culture, government officials, Olympian athletes, residents, students and invited guests.
Certificates and medals were also presented to winners during the Olympic Day celebration. Together, the educational and public activities connected learning about the Olympic Movement with participation in sport and community life.
